Hammer Mills

Fowlerex Hammer Mills are specifically designed for size reduction. These can be used for size reduction of wood waste, bark, grain, and various other products.

Efficient Material Reduction

In practice, the Fowlerex hammer mill has shown a threefold increase in bulk density, from 35 kg/m³ to 105 kg/m³ when processing dried Pinus radiata shavings. Although results may vary depending on the material type and application.

The mill features hammers mounted around a high-speed rotor to break down material as it moves through. The turbulence created by the hammer action ensures larger particles remain inside until they are sufficiently reduced. Adjustable size reduction screens at the outlet further optimise the reduction process as needed.

Installation

Normally the hammermill is fed via a conveying duct, hopper, screw or belt conveyor with a centrifugal fan extracting the milled shavings away, minimising any possible blockages. In certain circumstances, the hammermill can be directly installed under a suitable cyclone.

Fowlerex is happy to assist with a system design suitable to your requirements.

Benefits

  • Saves on storage requirements (because of increased density).
  • Reduced handling equipment and costs (smaller feed screws required).
  • Improved consistency for boiler fuel (gives more controlled combustion).
