A galvanising facility in Brisbane has taken proactive steps to reduce the environmental impact of its operations. As part of this commitment, a bespoke scrubber system has been developed to treat air extracted from the existing building before it is released into the environment.
Our Solution
The system features a packed-bed scrubber vessel with a recirculation system and a ducted fan. The scrubber itself is substantial in scale, measuring 3 m in diameter and approximately 8.5 m in height, representing a significant step forward in air-purification performance for this application.
The operational mechanism involves extracted air being forced through the scrubber by the fan, while a fine mist of scrubbing liquid is sprayed onto the packed bed, removing contaminants before the cleaned air is discharged. The process operates autonomously through an electronic control system, ensuring consistent treatment and reliable operation.
Our collaborative efforts in design and fabrication across Australia and New Zealand have brought this solution to life, despite several technical and logistical challenges throughout the project. The system is now substantially complete.
